Herman obtained his LLB degree at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2007.

He served his articles between 2001 and 2004 at the Firm A.P Pretorius and Partners, continuing from 2004 until 2007 at Jordaans Rijkheer and Partners.

He was admitted as an attorney in March 2007 and joined Van der Berg Van Vuuren Attorneys on 1 September 2007 and went on to become a Director on 3 August 2009.

He is currently a Director at Van der Berg & Van Vuuren Attorneys.
